    Rare diseases affect fewer than 1 in 2,000 people. Ultra-rare diseases are often described in scientific literature as having a prevalence of less than 1 in 50,000, or approximately 20 per million. Many of these diseases are genetic and exhibit a wide range of symptoms. Combination diseases are also becoming increasingly common. In focus: clinical pictures that arise from the interaction of several genetic variants or from the simultaneous occurrence of various rare diseases. These complex constellations require particularly precise human genetic diagnostics.<\/span><\/p>
